JumpStart Academy Africa officially commenced operations in Cameroon in February 2014.

Our first cohort of scholars – 100 passionate young people were selected from the following schools across the North and South West Regions of Cameroon: Government Bilingual High School Downtown Bamenda, Government Bilingual High School Ndu, Government Bilingual High School Bokwango and Government Bilingual High School Muea.

At the Academy, we aim to impact our scholars in the following areas:

Academic Excellence – Enterprise Creation – Civic Engagement

Over the course of a year, we enlisted and trained Mentor Fellows(most of whom are professional teachers) to work with these 100 scholars, training them in entrepreneurial leadership, teaching them 21st century skills such as critical thinking and problem solving and providing personal guidance. After a year and four months of running the Academy in Cameroon, we have been able to see the strengths and weaknesses of the model.

Above all, we have been able to see that the model works and we are delighted to share with you the results of our first ever impact evaluation.
